Shirley Jean Barnard

November 1, 1935 - April 8, 2024

The funeral for Shirley Jean Barnard, 88 years old former Enid resident, will be 1:00 pm Friday, April12, 2024 at Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. Shirley’s son-in-law, Tim Stone, Pastor of Mt. Zion Global Methodist Church in El Reno, will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.

Shirley was born November 1, 1935 in Helena, Oklahoma to George and Anna (Frickle) . She graduated from Helena schools in 1953 and graduated from nursing school in Enid before moving to Pampa, Texas. She married Earl Duane Barnard on January 18, 1960 at her parents’ home in Helena. Together the couple moved to Delhi, La and were blessed with three children. David Earl, Sheri Lynn, and Daryl Duane . Shirley continued her nursing career in Delhi, Ft Myers, Fl and eventually Enid, OK where the family moved in 1974.

Shirley and Earl were active members of Garland Road Baptist Church until Earl’s death in 2012. She enjoyed sewing, playing cards and visiting with her family. After Earl’s passing, Shirley moved to Yukon to live with Sheri and enjoyed visiting Daryl’s family in Texas. David and Tresa Barnard moved to Yukon in 2020 to be closer to her. Billie Warsop, Susan Stone and the wonderful staff of Gran Gran’s provided loving care during her years in Yukon.

She is survived by her daughter Sheri Stone and her husband Tim of Yukon, Oklahoma by her son Daryl Barnard and his wife Emily of Arlington, Texas; Daughter in law Tresa Barnard of Yukon, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Kory, Kristin, Jessica, Jenna, Ethan, Matthew, Luke, Sara, David, Natalie, and Amy; fourteen great-grandchildren; one sister Mary Green of Pond Creek, Oklahoma and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Don Astley, Dorothy Van Scyoc, Glen Astley, George Ann Taylor, her husband Earl Duane Barnard, and her son David Earl Barnard.

Memorials can be given to Mt Zion Global Methodist Church, El Reno.
