Sherry A Hamen (Miller)

A Celebration of Life for Sherry A. Hamen, age 80 years, of Enid, is 10:00 am, Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dave Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Enid. Visitation for Sherry is Monday, July 1st from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Sherry was born February 21, 1939 in Sacramento, California to Austin and Ethel (Foster) Miller and passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2019 in Enid. She was raised in Cleo Springs, OK. She graduated from Cleo Springs High School in 1956. After marrying Robert, she worked with her parents, where they owned and operated the Curve Café. While raising her young children, she worked many jobs as a waitress, including the Eagle Chief Café in Cleo Springs. She and Robert divorced in 1966. She and Dub were married in 1967 and made their home in Fairview, OK. She owned and operated Daylight Donut Shop in Fairview. After selling the Doughnut Shop, she worked at Fairview Fellowship Home. She then went to work at Gorton’s Grocery in Fairview. She then worked for Loves for a number of years. Finally, the job found her that she really loved. She went to work for the Fairview Police Department dispatching for over 20 years. Also becoming a part of the Fairview Police Auxiliary Reserves. During these years she and Dub enjoyed playing cards and numerous fishing vacations and time at the acres with the Howerton’s, Jackson’s and Guffey’s. She also helped raise two of her granddaughters, Shawn and Nikki. She and Dub divorced after 25 years remaining friends and family. She retired in 2000. In 2005 she and Robert remarried. She loved helping her kids and grandkids, babysitting, house sitting, pet sitting until she was unable to do so. She enjoyed dancing, singing, playing cards, board games and horse shoes. And even going with the bus tour to go to the casino and the concerts.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Austin and Ethel Miller; two husbands, Robert L.” Bobbie” Hamen, Sr; A.W. “Dub” Peck; and brother, Bobby Ray Miller. She is survived by five children, Sharon Jantzen and husband Earnie, of Ringwood, OK; Darla Hays of Enid; Vonda Hamen; Robert “Rob” Hamen, Jr. and wife Jan, of Enid; Terry Hamen and wife Donita, of Woodward, OK; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
