Sharon Shad Johnson

August 13, 1935 - April 21, 2021

A Celebration of Life Service for Sharon Shad Johnson, 85 of Enid, will be held at a later date by family. He was born August 13, 1935 at Severy, KS to Ralph and Hazel Houghton and passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2021 in Enid. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory.

Shad graduated from Leon, KS high school and attended college at Kansas State. He was a veteran of the US Marines serving from 1953-1956.

He married Leota Dunlap on June 2, 1966 in Newkirk, OK and lived in Kingfisher, OK for twenty three years while working in the oil field. They made their home in Enid in 1997 where they managed the Enid Civitan Homes for sixteen years. Shad enjoyed coin and stamp collecting, and hunting. He simply enjoyed shooting guns and loaded his own ammunition. He loved to read and had a large collection of first editions. Most of all, Shad was a wonderful husband and father.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Shad is survived bv his wife, Leota, two sons, Arthur “Terry” Johnson and wife Bertie and Michael Johnson, one grandchild, Justin Johnson and wife Heather, three great-grandchildren, Dani, Trea and Jamie, three brothers, Merritt Johnson of Eureka, KS, Marion Johnson of Neal, KS, and Mike Johnson of Andover, KS, and two sisters, Peggy Johnson of Eureka, KS and Patty Jo Childs of Jackson, MO.

Memorials may be made through Anderson-Burris to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
