Renetta Pearl McAlister

September 26, 1944 - October 17, 2023

A celebration of life service for Renetta Selby McAlister will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Hillsdale Bible Church, with Dr. Bob Courtney officiating. Burial will follow in Karoma Cemetery in Goltry. Visitation with the family will be 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday evening at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

Renetta McAlister was born on September 26, 1944 in Enid, Oklahoma to Elgin and Florence Selby. She went to live with her Lord and Savior on October 17, 2023. She passed away at her home with her family by her side at the age of 79.

Renetta grew up on the family farm in Goltry, Oklahoma. She had two older brothers and two older sisters in her family. She grew up un the Goltry community and graduated from Goltry High School in 1962. She loved playing basketball as a youth. Renetta and her sisters would sing at the community functions. She was raised in the Congregational Church of Goltry.

After high school, Renetta attended cosmetology school in Enid. While working in Enid she met her husband of 57 years, Harvey McAlister. They raised two children and resided in Goltry. Renetta had a beauty shop in her home for 40 years.

Renetta was a member of the Hillsdale Bible Church. She loved her church family and enjoyed spending time as a deaconess. Renetta spent time frequently in prayer with the Lord for her family and friends. If Renetta knew you or knew of you and a concern, as well as a joy, she likely spent time in prayer for you.

Renetta was best described as small, quiet, determined, witty, and extremely strong. But her strongest quality was the unbreakable love and faith she had in the Lord. Renetta enjoyed being outside on God’s creation, where she could see his wonderful works. She loved working outside and going to the mountains. Renetta treasured her family and frequently had family gatherings. She always ensured that holidays were special and focused on her Lord.

In 2015 at the age of 70, Renetta was the recipient of a double lung transplant. She has been lovingly cared for by her husband Harvey, who was always by her side. While in and out of the hospital and medical setting, Renetta often found a way to share her faith of God with others.

Renetta was preceded in death by her father Elgin Selby, her mother Florence Selby and one sister RhoDonna Nelson of Carrier, Oklahoma.

Renetta is survived by her husband Harvey McAlister; son Bryan McAlister and wife Laura Camarena McAlister of Goltry; daughter Shannon Landwehr and husband Todd Landwehr of Waukomis; 6 grandchildren Carlie Duffy, Jaiden Bolin and husband Chase Bolin, Denton McAlister, Alondra Munoz, Sydnie Landwehr and fiancé Bradie Gray and Blake Landwehr. She had 1 great grandchild Kory Bolin; and 1 sister LeVeta Koehn and husband Jack and 2 brothers Lee Selby and wife Darla and Leonard Selby and wife Billie. Renetta cherished her family and left them with the legacy of her faith in God.
