Norma Jeanette Norman (Oakes)

Thursday, June 25th, 1931 - Monday, May 29th, 2023

Graveside services for Norma Jeanette (Jan) Norman, age 91, of Enid, will be 10:00 am, Saturday, June 3, 2023 at the Garden Chapel in Memorial Park Cemetery with Aaron Betts officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, June 1st at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory.

Jan was born June 25, 1931 in Maude, Oklahoma to Lonnie and Lucille (Brown) Oakes, and passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Monday, May 29, 2023 in Enid, surrounded by family.

Jan graduated from Midwest City High School and following high school worked in administrative positions. She loved her family and took us girls to church where she had a heart for missions and made sure her family came to know, our redeemer, the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. She purchased a piano for the Baptist Foreign ministries in Hong Kong. The one place of peace in her heart was to know Jesus and to know that her family knows Jesus.

Jan is preceded in death by her parents: siblings, Joanne Rudder and Lonnie Lee Oakes, Jr. She is survived by three daughters, Teresa Etter and husband Marshall, of Enid; Sharon Willey, of Enid; Melinda Long of Enid; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; as well as numerous other family and friends.

We rejoice to know she is free at last, with friends and family and her precious Lord. Memorial contributions in Jan’s name may be made to the First Baptist Church of Enid with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
