Celebrate National Chocolate Day Today

ENID, OK - How awesome is it that National Chocolate Day is October 28, just before Halloween! That's an open invitation to eat some of the chocolate candy that you've purchased for trick-or-treaters. Today is not to be confused with World Chocolate Day which is on September 4.

Americans eat more than $18 billion in chocolate every year, which evens out to about 9.5 pounds annually. It has been said that chocolate has nutrients called flavanols that help to increase blood flow to the heart so don't be afraid to eat just a bite.

Chocolate was first cultivated about 3,000 years ago by the Mayans and Incas. They used to drink cocoa and even used the beans as currency.

There are many ways to celebrate this great chocolate event which include eating a piece of chocolate, making a chocolate recipe, trying a new type of chocolate, ordering a chocolate drink, buying a box of chocolates, giving someone chocolate, having a fondue party or visiting a bakery/cupcake shop.
