Lucy Ann Webster

February 20, 1936 - July 28, 2025

Lucy “Payne” Webster, age 89, of Enid, Oklahoma, peacefully entered into the presence of her Lord on July 28, 2025. Born on February 20, 1936, in Enid to Charles and May “O’Brate” Payne, Lucy lived a life marked by unwavering love, tireless devotion, and a deep faith that shaped every chapter of her journey.

After the loss of her mother at age eleven, Lucy stepped into the role of caretaker for her eight siblings, exemplifying her lifelong compassion and strength. She graduated from Carrier High School in 1953 as class president and married the love of her life, Eugene “Yogi” Webster, the following year. Together, they attended the Apostolic Faith Bible College in Baxter Springs, Kansas, and began a life of ministry – pastoring churches in Crosses, Arkansas; Enid, Oklahoma; Lovington, New Mexico; and Hudson, Wyoming.

When they learned of five children in need in Mississippi, Lucy and Eugene opened their hearts and home, adopting them all and raising them in faith and love in Wyoming. Lucy taught herself piano one song at a time, later becoming a licensed beautician and opening her own salon. Her entrepreneurial sprit led her to operate a craft store in Lander, Wyoming, where her creativity thrived. She had an unmatched gift for spotting beauty in unexpected places – from garage sales to scraps of fabric – and could transform almost anything into something warm, useful, or lovely. Her quilts and handmade items brought joy to many, and her resourcefulness was as endearing as her generosity.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and May Payne; her husband, Eugene Webster; two sons, Leon and Glen Webster; and six brother: Lawrence, Charles, Bennie, Barton, Glen, and George Payne.

She is survived by two sisters, Karen “Payne” Theilen and Mergie “Payne” Doll-Cochran; two daughters, Dora Crook of Enid, OK, and Patricia Rose (Rich) of Fairfield, IA; one son, Justin Webster (Ivonna) of Enid, OK; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; a host of cherished friends; and countless individuals touched by her faithful ministry.

Her life was a testament of love, resilience, and diving purpose. She could make anything – and made everything better.
