Louise Black

June 28, 1927 - July 3, 2025

Funeral service for Louise Black, 98, will be Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at 10:00 am in First Baptist Church with Pastor Jonathan Gilliland officiating. Graveside service will be 11:00 am Wednesday, July 9, 2025 in the Quanah Memorial Park Cemetery, Quanah, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home & Crematory, Enid.

Louise was born on June 28, 1927 in Quanah, Texas to Floyd and Inez (Alexander) Hodo and passed away on July 3, 2025 in Enid, Oklahoma.

She grew up in Quanah and graduated from Quanah High School in 1945. On April 5, 1947, Louise married Gurney Black and they made their home in Quanah. The family moved to Enid on September 15, 1973. She was a homemaker and later a seamstress for Lamberts. Louise also babysat for several doctors through the years. She was a 52 year member of the First Baptist Church, where she taught children’s Sunday School for many years.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Gurney on July 15, 1982; parents; son-in-law, Steve Jasinski, Jr. brothers, Gene and Keith Hodo; sister, Linda Webb.

She is survived by her children, Danny and wife Tamara Black and Deena Black-Jasinski; brother, Jim Hodo; two grand dogs, Gracie and Zoey; other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made through Anderson-Burris to First Baptist Church, Youth.
