February 27, 1952 - July 5, 2023

The memorial service for Linda Lou Helms is 10:00AM Monday in Your Family Church under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.

Linda Lou Helms was born to Homer Fredrick Barns and Betty Lou Erickson. She was born February 27, 1952, in Maywood Hospital, Las Angeles, California. Linda passed peacefully at her son’s home in Enid, Oklahoma, on July 5, 2023.Linda married Bruce Wade Helms on April 9, 1976, in Kings, California. She gave birth to 4 great children, Shawn M. Cole Husband Hartley H. Cole, William E. Leftwich, James E. Helms, Samual C.D. Helms wife Keely Helms. Linda has several brothers and sisters, Larry F Barnes, Mary K Barnes, Karen L Barnes, Patty P Barnes, Bobbie S Barnes, Michael W Barnes, June E Barnes.

Linda lived a long life of service and dedication showering love upon all that knew her. Her loves were God, children, family, coffee, Pepsi, and plants. She was highly active with and dedicated to her church. She officially, unofficially, led praise in her church from the 3rd row and greeted everyone with joy and excitement, especially the children of the church. This joy and excitement took on many forms and were often displayed with hugs. God gave her a new lease on life almost 3 years ago when she suffered 2 massive strokes, after being in a coma, and an experimental surgery, Linda recovered with new inexpressible love and joy with God moving through her every day.

She was love wrapped in a 5”4’ frame of meekness. She was the smile upon many faces until the day she went home. She was quick with a joke and even quicker with a laugh. She was the order in a life plagued with chaos, the beacon of light for the lost at sea in the raging storm. She always reached down into the darkest depths of your soul and always managed to bring to light the precious jewel hidden within. She was a mom to 4, but an innumerable number of people claimed her as their mother, especially her caretaker Jodie Moore.

Linda is proceeded in death by her mother, father, husband, and one grandchild. She has 4 kids, 12 grandkids, and many great grandkids. She loved each generation more than she loved the last.

Obituaries are posted, in part, due to the generosity of The Commons.
