The Memorial Services celebrating and honoring the life of Leon Marvin Spain, 79, of Enid, will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, August 17, 2026, in the Brown-Cummings Chapel, with Chaplain Gary Miller officiating. Complete cremation care and services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings, A life celebration home.

Leon was born May 12, 1947, to Grover C. Ashlock and Estella V. Evans in Decator, Texas. He passed away August 12, 2026, in Enid, OK.

He was raised and educated in California where his mother remarried, when Leon’s last name was changed to Spain. From a young age he began his love of horses and became a very skilled horseshoer. Team roping was his sport of choice, and he won many times on his AQHA “Deck Star Joe”.

He met his wife of thirty-five years Karen Ollia, in Palmdale, CA, where they were married in 1991. Their son, Jacob, was born in 1992. The family moved to Enid in 2010. Leon found strength, peace, and community for over thirty-eight years through dedicated time in helping others find recovery in a twelve-step program.

He is survived by his wife Karen Spain; son Pete Spain and wife Diane, of Washington; daughter Lacy Pearce and husband Mike, of Nevada; four grandchildren, Diamond and Pete Spain, Madison and Cody Pearce; Leon's mother-in-law Doris Hall; sister-in-law Nadine Lambert and husband Larry; brother-in-law, Brian Ollila and wife Dawn; and his nieces and nephews, Tanya, Nicole, Ashley, Joe and Eric. He was preceded in death by one son, Jacob Spain, and his parents.

The family asks that rather than flowers memorial gifts be directed to: Jacob's Meadow Wildlife Habitat, http://www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/wildlife-habitat.
