Laile Gene Wilson

Laile Gene Wilson went home to be with his Lord Jesus on Sunday Feb‭ ‬24,‭ ‬2019‭ ‬at‭ ‬Hillcrest Manor in Blackwell at the age of‭ ‬73.‭ ‬Laile was born in Blackwell April‭ ‬12,‭ ‬1945‭ ‬to Harold Hull Wilson‭ & ‬Hazel Lee‭ (‬Steffen‭) ‬Wilson.‭ ‬He grew up on a farm west of Braman,‭ ‬graduating from Braman HS in‭ ‬1963.‭ ‬He furthered his education at NOC graduating in‭ ‬1965‭ ‬and Central State College graduating in‭ ‬1968.‭ ‬He taught at Braman HS for‭ ‬5‭ ‬years before farming full time with his father.‭ ‬He worked‭ ‬26‭ ‬years at Kay County District‭ ‬3,‭ ‬the last‭ ‬8‭ ‬years as County Commissioner.‭ ‬He retired Dec‭ ‬31,‭ ‬2010‭ ‬and he and his wife traveled to every state in the USA main land.‭ ‬He liked spending the winter in Arizona.‭ ‬He loved his family dearly and enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports and participate in activities.‭ ‬He was a member of the Nardin Methodist Church.

He married his HS sweetheart,‭ ‬Janice Ferneau,‭ ‬Dec.‭ ‬19,‭ ‬1964,‭ ‬in Braman.‭ ‬They lived in Blackwell and Edmond while he was attending college.‭ ‬They moved to a‭ ‬farm near Nardin,‭ ‬May‭ ‬1967,‭ ‬where they lived for‭ ‬30‭ ‬years before moving into Blackwell in‭ ‬1997.‭ ‬They have been married‭ ‬54‭ ‬years.‭ ‬They have two children.‭

He is survived by his wife Janice,‭ ‬of the home in Blackwell‭; ‬son Bruce D.‭ ‬Wilson and wife Deana of Enid‭; ‬daughter Chaunna Spears and husband Gary of Surprise,‭ ‬Arizona.‭ ‬Three grandchildren,‭ ‬Brady Wilson and fiancée Hayley Morgan of Enid‭; ‬Danae Wilson of Enid‭; ‬and Kacie Platt of Stillwater‭; ‬brother-in-law Ray Dowd of Blackwell‭; ‬sister-in-law Donna Adams of Wilsey,‭ ‬Kansas‭; ‬sister-in-law Connie Westhof and husband Chris of Edmond‭; ‬many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents‭; ‬two brothers L.‭ ‬Neil Wilson and Merle Wilson‭; ‬one sister Coils‭ (‬Wilson‭) ‬Dowd‭; ‬sister-in-law Francis‭ (‬Rowe‭) ‬Wilson and a Celebration of life service is scheduled for Sat.‭ ‬March‭ ‬2,‭ ‬1:00‭ ‬p.m.‭ ‬at the Nardin‭ ‬Methodist Church.‭
