Korey McMahon Stands Out

Discovering Your Personal Brand

-
(April 14, 2015) - Autry Tech opened their doors to the public for a very informative speech on personal branding and standing out from the crowd. Korey McMahon, international speaker and founder of McMahon Marketing, spoke to a room filled with business professionals, marketing managers and entrepreneurs.
-
McMahon, who is a high energy individual, delivered a very informative and interactive talk that held the attention of the audience throughout the morning. He even allowed those in attendance to check in on social media and pose a question to their Facebook friends.
-
Everyone has a personal brand and McMahon set out to prove it by having those with Facebook accounts ask their friends and family to describe themselves in one word. It only took seconds and many individuals were already getting the answers. Several of us in the room even commented on each others posts.
-
The exercise showed that people have an opinion of us and in a way that is our personal brand. As individuals, we have the ability to shape that brand and have others see us the way that we would like. Social media accounts are key to projecting a positive brand. They can also be negative if posting the wrong content.
-
McMahon reminded us that we are bombarded with an average of 3,000 ads a day. When asked if we could name five that we had remembered from earlier in the day, there was no response. A few individuals were able to name one or two. McMahon asked those people to describe what it was that made those ads stand out.
-
It was a very interactive talk with McMahon asking questions and getting the audience to either answer or raise their hands. There were many great take a-ways during the hour and I have listed a dozen highlights below.
