April 17, 1952 - March 7, 2025
The funeral service celebrating the life of Judith Louise Fagan will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday March 14, 2025 at First United Methodist Church of Enid. Graveside will follow at the Waukomis Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday evening from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Judy was born April 17, 1952 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Dale and Betty Minton. She married Rick Fagan on March 25, 1972 and the two were married for 46 years.
Judy graduated from Enid High School in 1970 and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Speech Pathology from Phillips University in 1974. Upon graduation from Phillips University, Judy and Rick moved to Guthrie, Oklahoma where she taught elementary school and created the Pre-school and Kindergarten program as St. Mary’s Catholic School.
In 1981, she and Rick moved to Enid with their children, Julie and James. Judy continued her love of teaching at Monroe Elementary and Longfellow Junior High Schools. She earned a Master’s in Education specializing in Special Education from Central State University and transitioned to teaching Resource Room Special Services at Taft Elementary school until her retirement in 2013. Although retired, she could not be kept from working with young children. In 2013 she served the Enid Public School Systems as the Early Childhood Coordinator and Sooner Start Program Liaison, evaluating and determining the educational needs of children at the age of 3.
Judy loved music, spending time in nature with her flower beds, reading, serving as the organist at various churches, writing, and working with children. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Enid, the Montgomery Class, Esther Circle and several educational organizations.
Her personal philosophy was “Enjoy each day, appreciating one’s blessings, even in the tough bumps of life’s journey. Walk closely with the God of ‘your knowing’, believing that life, the soul and the spirit continues on forever.”
Judy was preceded in death by her husband Rick on April 7, 2018, her parents, and her special Aunt Linnie.
She is survived by her sister, Ann Lorenz and her husband Rick; her 2 children, Julie Thibodeau and her husband Jason and James Fagan and his wife Erin; five grandchildren, Seth, Joshua, and Karis Thibodeau and Marlowe and Samuel Fagan. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, cousins, and dear friends. (she directed me to not leave anyone out, but there are so many people it is impossible!)
The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in Judy’s name to the First United Methodist Church of Enid and Aledo United Methodist Church’s Youth Programs.
