Juanita D. Burchfield, Enid, died July 24 at the age of 95.

Juanita (Nita) Burchfield spent her life as a homemaker, raising three children. She was active in ZETA Child Study Club for over 20 years, her children’s school activities and her church. She served for many years as the church’s nursery coordinator, volunteer office assistant and head of volunteers for the church’s newsletter, the Presby Press. She was very active in the church’s senior adult ministry, Chapter III for many years. She was a St. Mary’s Hospital volunteer for 39 years, with over 13,000 hours of service. Her hobbies included sewing, needlework and gardening.

Juanita was born in Cleveland, Oklahoma to Ira and Grace Burcham. She is the youngest of six children. She spent most of her life in Enid, having moved there when she was nine years old. She graduated from Enid High School in 1943.

Juanita married William E. Burchfield, an Enid native in 1943 in Garden City, Kansas. They celebrated 67 years of marriage, before his death in 2010.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) Burchfield and a daughter, Sharon. She is the last survivor of her five siblings: Olan, Cecil, Raymond, Rosa Mae and Minnie.

Survivors include a son, Brian (Rose) Burchfield of Chipita Park, Colorado, and a daughter, Joy (Wayne) Pittman of Albuquerque, New Mexico. She had two grandsons: Jared (Chelee) Burchfield of Lead Hill, Arkansas and Adam Pittman of Arlington Heights, Illinois; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Arrangements under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation with the family present will be Monday evening 6:00-7:30 pm at the funeral home. Services will be held Tuesday, July 28 at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Enid, with Andrew Long officiating. A private family internment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made through Anderson-Burris to First Presbyterian Church or St. Mary’s Volunteer Memorial Fund.
