January 13, 1940 - April 12, 2026
John "Johnny" Charles Boedeker was born January 13, 1940, in Enid, OK to Charles “Toots” Boedeker and Elvina (Irion) Boedeker. He passed peacefully from this earth in his home Sunday, April 12, 2026.
He attended Enid Public schools and was in the graduating class of 1958. After graduation he attended Oklahoma State University from 1958 -1962 majoring in Agriculture. He was on the rodeo team as a tie-down roper, also the occasional bulldogger and bull rider, where he won the All-Around Cowboy, as well as completing military basic training. He then enlisted in the US Army and graduated on May 3, 1963, of the First Training Regiment Third Battalion Company L. After being honorably discharged he married R. Jean (Morgan) Boedeker on July 22, 1967. Together they had one son, Jeffrey Charles Boedeker.
John’s career started at Vance Air Force base. Then, he worked for Champlin Refinery for the next 17 years, until it shut down January 1, 1984. In his retirement years he continued with his favorite hobby of participating in rodeos in the tie down event.
John was a beloved husband, father, “Papa”, son, brother, and friend. He was the nicest man one could ever meet. He was one to always have your back and always be there to support you. If he was not found in the practice pen or at a rodeo you could have found him hunting coyotes. He loved supporting his grandchildren, whether it be for basketball, softball/baseball or those freezing cold stock shows where he would be there proudly cheering. He would always have pictures and be telling the world about how proud he was of his grandchildren’s accomplishments. His encouragement and wise words will be missed. They will be carried on by his grandchildren.
John is preceded in death by his parents Charles “Toots” Boedeker and Elvina “Irion” Boedeker, his wife, R. Jean (Morgan) Boedeker. He is survived by his son, Jeff and wife Dede, of Waukomis. Granddaughters, Jalyn Schapansky and husband Casey (Great-grandchildren Koldyn, Jerrett, Jagar, & Jaley), Caisha Boedeker (Great-granddaughter Jentrey), grandson Jack Boedeker and Fiancé Katie Whitfield.
