Janice Arlene Hooley was born October 18, 1946, in Shawnee, OK to Wilma and Warren Hooley. The family moved to Enid, OK when Jan was six, and she spent all her school years in Enid, graduating Enid High School and attending Phillips University. She married Larry Frey in 1966 and two children, twins, Lori and Eric were born of the marriage. Except for six years spent early in the marriage in the Kansas City, MO area, Jan and Larry have lived in Enid for over fifty years. Janice was a Bible teacher all her adult life. She taught youth, children in Awanas, and Sunday school classes as well as women’s bible school studies. She had a pure heart and loving motives in all her relationships. She loved the beauty of nature as evidenced in the pleasure she found working in the floral business, maintaining her home gardens and flower beds, as well as managing two different garden and farm stores with her beloved husband, Larry. Jan also loved people and demonstrated that love in her family and in her work, dedicating the last years of her career to serving others through the Garfield County Department of Human Services. Most of all, Jan loved God and shared that love with her community, leading bible studies, teaching Sunday School classes, and pointing her children and grandchildren toward Jesus.
Jan is survived by her husband Larry, her daughter Lori and son-in-law Mark Bowers; her son Eric and daughter-in-law Staci Frey, as well as seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She is also survived by her sister Cindy and brother-in-law Rick Van Krevelen. Her family will remember her for her optimism, her smile, her laughter, her companionship, and the loving grace she showed to each of us.
