Janet Ruth Rieger (Tate)

Wednesday, January 29th, 1941 - Sunday, February 25th, 2024

Funeral services for Janet Ruth Rieger, age 83, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, formerly of Enid, will be 10:00 am, Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Lester Lowry officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 pm in the Driftwood Cemetery, near Burlington, Oklahoma. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory.

Janet was born January 29, 1941, in Cherokee, Oklahoma, the daughter of George Washington Tate and Irene (Wilcox) Tate, and passed away Sunday, February 25, 2024 in Oklahoma City.

Janet attended Cherokee Public Schools, completing her education in Hawaii where her husband Darrell’s military career took them. She and Darrell Rieger were married for 51 years prior to his passing away on April 13, 2012. She and Darrell had two children, Russel and David. After returning to Enid, Janet attended and graduated from cosmetology classes in Alva, Oklahoma, in 1962. For the majority of her life, Janet was a homemaker, but she also found her calling as a caregiver for the elderly. She was a member of Central Assembly of God and Evangel Assembly of God, both in Enid. She was a devout Christian and professed her belief in Jesus Christ, often evangelizing to those in nursing homes, reading the Bible and other books to the residents. She also enjoyed studying her Bible and crocheting and knitting.

Preceding her in death are her parents, George and Irene Tate; and husband, Darrell Ray Rieger. Her two children, Russel Todd Rieger, of Enid, and David Allen Rieger, of Edmond, Oklahoma, survive her. Two grandchildren also survive Janet; Brady Allen Rieger, of Norman, Oklahoma, where he attends the University of Oklahoma, and Madelyn Renee Rieger from Norman, Oklahoma, and she attends Oklahoma State University.
