Jack Allen Rogers

A Celebration of Life Service for Jack A. Rogers age 87 of Enid will be 10:30 am Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Rev. Vernon Lee officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Jack was born to Ted and Zaida Rogers in Mendota, IL on July 2, 1930 and passed away at his home January 1, 2018. He moved to Enid on a farm northwest of town. He attended school in the Enid area, later entering the military service, U.S. Army, in 1947. Major units of service were 2nd Infantry Div. Indian Head, 5th Infantry Div. Red Diamond, and 7th Infantry Div. The Hour Glass, 8th Infantry Div. Flaming Arrow, 9th Infantry Div. The Crumbling Cookie, and First Armored Div. Old Iron Sides 5th US Army. He retired from the Army in 1967 as a Master Sergeant. He served in Korea, Japan, Germany and Vietnam. His decorations included the Combat Infantry Badge, Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Korean Service 7 Stars, Vietnam 3 Stars, Army Occupation of Japan, Good Conduct 6 Knots, Korean Defense, United Nations Medal, ROK Korean War, National Defense with Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Campaign Medal, RVN Gallantry Cross with Palm, and Korean Presidential Unit Citation.

Jack was employed at Vance Air Force Base for 27 years and retired, the second time, in 1996. His hobbies were a passion of poetry and building birdhouses, squirrel feeders, patio lamps and yard work. He was a life member of DAV, The Army Navy Union, the KWVA 2nd US Infantry Division, the Purple Heart Association, Combat Infantry Badge Association, the Vietnam Veterans of America, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, also the American Legion, the Officers Club, International Poetry, and Hall of Fame. He was a member of the Delta Theta Chi Sorority, President of Seniors AMBUCS. He has a book of Poetry that was published.

He was a going member of the Maine Nazarene Church. For over twenty years, his dearest and most beloved friend was Joenita Burns and she passed away December 26, 2016.

Jack is survived by brother, Teddy Rogers of Enid, two sisters, Jean Choate of Comanche and Terry Smith of Lindsay; son, Robert Rogers of Enid, and step daughter Sherry Stevens of Tulsa, 3 grandchildren; Josh Stevens, Trent Rogers, and Ravone Graham, several great grandchildren, and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and Brother, Monte Rogers.
