INTEGRIS InTouch IRobot System

(May 28, 2015) - INTEGRIS Bass Baptist Health Center is about to launch the InTouch IRobot system, RP-VITA, a telemedicine solution enabling patients to undergo a consultation with specialists remotely - leading to faster diagnosis and treatment for patients.
-
Catherine Gann, Director of Foundation and Business Development, invited local media to attend a demonstration of the new technology on Thursday, May 28. We were shown the benefits of using the latest telemedicine technology.
-
Their new telemedicine solution will enable physicians and specialists to conduct remote consults with two-way audiovisual, clinical data and medical imaging, all from an iPad, laptop or desktop computer. The systems will allow a remote doctor to coordinate patient care in real-time leading to improved quality and decreased decision-making time.
-
The new InTouch IRobot will be up and running in about a week after training is complete with on-site nurses and off-site physicians. Specialists in neurology and nephrology will be the main users of the remote telemedicine system at INTEGRIS.
-
Telemedicine is a medical solution, which allows physicians to cross physical barriers, instantly eliminate distance, and facilitate vital communication between medical staff and patients, all while maintaining financial sustainability.
-
Cindy Leathers, Vice President Chief Nursing Officer, explained that due to the lack of specialists in neurology and nephrology in Enid, many patients have had to drive out of town adding extra time, stress and cost to their medical care. This new solution will keep patients in Enid and save the cost of a trip elsewhere.
-
The InTouch IRobot purchased by INTEGRIS has built in GPS which allows the robot the ability to go straight to the room on it's own. Other models can be guided by a physician or nurse. The cost of the GPS guided system runs around $120,000.
-
With this system, the physician is able to perform almost every task needed from a remote location. A nurse is on hand to help whenever needed. A computer monitor allows the patient to to speak with the specialist as if he were in the room. There is a stethoscope attached to the robot which can be heard by the physician at another location.

Watch the video below to get an example of how incredible telemedicine is going to be. John Delgado gave us a great demonstration of the system.
