Homer Arthur Lea Jr.

A Graveside service for Homer A. Lea, Jr age 95 of Enid will be 2:00 PM Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Bruce Johnson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Homer was born January 10, 1926 in Altus, OK to Homer A. and Bessie (Carnes) Lea, Sr and passed away at his son Wayne's home in Burleson, TX on December 29, 2021. He attended Sayre schools early on and High School in Los Angeles, Ca. He entered the U. S. Navy in March, 1943 at the age of 17 and served as a Petty Officer 2nd Class/Boatswain Mate on the oiler USS Kankakee in the Pacific 3rd Fleet. He survived Halsey's Typhoon and was in Japan on the day of their surrender. After his honorable discharge from the Navy in December 1946 he attended and graduated from Sayre Junior College. He married the love of his life Patricia Ann Neely on March 19, 1948. In June of 1949, he went to work for Beckham County National Bank as a Bookkeeper and Admittance Clerk until September of 1951. He worked as an Assistant Geophysicist for Gulf Research and Development for a year. In September 1952, he went to work for Douglas Aircraft Company in Tulsa until July 1960. In August 1960, Homer started working for Serv-Air Inc as an Aircraft Mechanic and Dock Leadman in Enid until July 1972. He started working for Northrop in July, 1972 until retiring on June 30, 1989 as a Senior Aircraft Inspector. He loved the outdoors and was an avid quail hunter and fisherman. Homer enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved watching them play sports. He enjoyed 72 years of marriage until Patricia passed away on September 6, 2020.

He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Enid where he enjoyed volunteering and was a member of the American Legion.

Homer is survived by his sons, Wayne and wife Pam Lea of Burleson, TX and Keith and wife Lisa Lea of Enid, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and sister Dolores Wanzer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Patricia, an infant daughter and sister Daphne Lewis.
