The graveside service for Gretchen Sue Massey, 80 year-old former Enid resident, will be 11:00AM Wednesday, January 15, 2020 in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Gail Edmison officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.

Gretchen Sue Massey, born on September 21, 1939, in Enid, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully in the loving arms of her husband and soulmate, Jack, in the evening hours of January 7, 2020, at their home in Oklahoma City.

Following her graduation from Enid High School as part of the Class of 1957, Gretchen married William L. Parsons in 1958, and together they had three sons, Clay, Curtis, and Gary. She subsequently married Jack Massey on December 15, 2007.

Gretchen enjoyed knitting and needlepoint, reading books, and writing poetry in her free time. She was involved with Special Olympics Oklahoma and took great joy in helping and supporting the athletes during the events.

She was part of her high school reunion committee, always willing to help organize and decorate for her school’s reunions. Gretchen was an avid member of Al-Anon and the Heart to Heart Women’s Retreat groups. Professionally, she worked as a secretary for Oklahoma City Public Schools and various doctor offices. Gretchen loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Gretchen is survived by her husband, Jack Massey, and her two sons, Clay and his wife, Lora, of Oklahoma City, and Curtis and his wife, Toni Parsons, of Enid. She is also survived by four stepchildren, Michael, Steven, Lori, and Melissa, all of Yukon; eight grandchildren, Brandon, Collin, Christopher, Samuel, Blaze, Skylar, Nicole, and Ryan; and three great-grandchildren, Serenity, Brielle, and Ruby.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Erma (Throckmorton) Fields, and father, Ray Fields; sister, June Peterson; and son, Gary Parsons.

The family would also like to express their thanks to Humanity Hospice for the loving care provided to Gretchen in her final days. Memorials may be made through Henninger-Hinson to OMRF (Alzheimer's Division).
