Do you believe in ghosts?

We asked our loyal Facebook Buzz Heads if they had ever lived in a house they thought had ghosts and what caused you to believe that? Here are many of their responses. Most of these experiences happened right here in Enid! Not all comments were included.

The last names have been deleted to protect the ghostly.

Nancy - Do now. I myself have seen a shadowy appearance of a small child that goes between one of our bedrooms to the bathroom, have seen this 3 different times. My husband has seen the figure of a child standing by the kitchen table 2 times.

Jane - Yes when I was young. Lived in a house the person died years before. The Ghost would move things around and one had a white hat and gown on. It was friendly.

Becky - I grew up in a house with "Sam" in it. Things would just disappear and then turn up again....in totally weird places. There would be cold places and unexplained sounds. I even saw a rolling pillar of smoke but it was on it's side not straight up and down.

Carmel - Yes, the house we live in now. We would hear something like a radio playing, smell perfume and cigars, things would move by themselves. Also they would scare the beJesus out of my granddaughter. My son had ghost hunters come to the house a couple of years ago and they confirmed it. We have just learned to coexist. Luckily they are not aggressive spirits.

Melissa - Yes went in bathroom and tub was filled with water drained it and went back and it was filled again. When u took showers u could feel someone watching you.

Melisa - Yes. The house I lived on on Cogdal has a ghost. The original owner Duke Mendenhall. He smokes cigars every night after supper & will move the curtains to look outside. I thought I had an electrical burn until I pulled the abstract & did some asking around.

Chelsi - Yes..not sure if it was the house that had ghosts or it was my daughter's spirit that was just with us in the house... but the XBOX kinect picked up a little stick figure dancing back and forth standing right next to my husband... ...nobody was standing up by my husband.

Carol - Yes we have had spirits in two different homes.

Jade - Grew up in one. Called him doc. When we moved in...slamming doors and such. Then one night Christmas songs from these bells that weren't plugged in in the middle of the night. But he passed on. Isn't there anymore.

Tara - Yes. The house I live in now. He moves things around and watches my kids all the time. They have told me about him. It's my great grandad he lived here before he passed on.

Gina - Do right now. Live in Waverly. Our house is 104 years old. Knew immediately.

Jerry - Our tv would change channels and turn on and off by itself. We threw it out. Have felt a presence standing over my bed. Seven dwarf toys of my mother's travel.

Carissa - Yes. For years dealt with air conditioner coming on in winter, heat in the summer, garage door opening, tv's on and off, things mysteriously disappearing the reappearing in odd places. Dark shadowy figure in front of mirrors. When we moved into.the house there were thick red lines over every door leading outside. My parents still live there and still see it from time to time. My house has a black ghost cat that we see running inside but no people.

Tina - Yes!! Many people saw the spirit when at our house. It actually saved my nephew from falling down a flight of stairs. Made a believer out of his daddy!!

Erin - Every house or apartment I've ever lived in. I'm thinking they probably just follow me. What house in Waverly Gina Heath-Garvey? I grew up on the 1300 block of west Cherokee and know of a few ghosts in the neighborhood (including the house I grew up in). I would actually like to talk to the people that live in that house.

Pamela - My house on Candlewood in North Enid was haunted. Things moved around and strange noises. Nothing really bad.

Erin - My husband said the same thing Rob until he married me. Now he's a firm believer.

Sharon - My house on Hite. We lived there for 13 years. Hall light would come on in the middle of the night. Someone would knock on the bathroom door when you took a shower. Nobody else was home and doors were locked. You would also see someone walking past the doorway but nobody was there. My kids can confirm this. We were never scared. When house was remodeled, all the strange things stopped.

Jacquie - yes, this one! I knew when we moved in we had a being here. I kept smelling her perfume in an empty house, but only in one room. The bedroom I made my sewing room. She would always be there while I worked. I found out the woman who originally had this house had an infant die in that room, and she went nuts, became a druggy and later killed herself, (though not in the house). The baby crib is still in this attic! One day she kept shutting my machine off when I would gt up to iron. SO I confronted her and told her she did not frighten me, the child had moved on and it was time for her to move on as well. A week later I noticed no more perfume smell. I have not felt, nor sensed her in the last 5 years!

Robin - When I was young, we lived in a two story house. My brothers often saw a lady on the stairs. My mom noticed things moved around. One day, my mom and sister in law where the only ones in the house. They both ran into the kitchen after hearing a scream. Both thought it the other one screaming. My mom heard someone walking up the basement stairs, no one but her was home. I had this feeling of being watched. This house still stands and everyone that has lived there reports of noises, item moved around and other unexplainable things.

Sarah - Yes! I was outside with my dogs standing with my back against the door. All of a sudden a felt a hand on the center of my back. It felt like it went straight through to my chest. Also the lights, tv, and radio would randomly turn on and then off all by themselves.

Stephanie - I live in the house I grew up in and we have two. One is a little boy. In my kitchen there are two windows one faces my front yard the other faces my porch. If you are sitting at the kitchen table you can see him run by the window that faces the front yard like he is going to the porch but when you look out the other window there is no one there. The other is my mom (no she did not pass here) I see her all over not just one place.

Aisling - My house is haunted I dont care what my husband says! We hear foot steps coming up the stairs often, lights turn on by themselves, radios play by themselves, my kids have talked about seeing someone in a room before. Its creepy! The house my parents live in ive seen two creepy ghosts walk several times on different occasions but of course no one believes me!

Randi - Yes-- we moved into a house that a lady died in... One night we heard a loud bang went into the living room and all of our lights were turned on... Also when we were in our bedroom and the living room tv turned on! She's nice so far!

Sarah - t I've lived in several houses that were haunted. Saw things, heard things, did research on the history of the homes. Was never scared or threatened.

Liz - I do now..... I saw a shadow of a little boy with a bowl hair cut go down the hall.... There were no windows for a shadow and I was the only one at home.... Few years later took a picture of our house and noticed a boy standing in garage and wasn't one of our boys!!! No one was in kids room and heard the toys being moved around!!!

Christina - when my baby was a few weeks old i would give her her binkie and as soon as i left the room she would start crying and her binkie would be across the room she would be swaddled and everything she was only a few weeks old so I know she didn't throw it.....

Eddie - One night came Home and the shining slim light was ghostly. A six inch light beaming every where. I rushed kids inside. Found flash light and follow ed light out west to 200 yards. Climbed on tractor. And stuck my hand up ----- O my it was the reflections off the tractor not so clean tractor mirror. In terror came back to house and said kids, we have to clean we have to clean those ghostly mirrors before u look into another mirror. It might be your last chance. Lol. Always got clean mirrors in life. Enjoy life. Or make someone else's better!

Mariann - yes it was known that the man who lived there died from a fall and frequently walked the house... built in 1917 and was first home built in the town.

Kim - Yes! For years we had multiple strange occurrences in our Edmond house, and they started from the day we moved in, and lasted until we moved out. Turns out our house has quite a history dating back to pre statehood days.

Amber - Yes! 213 S. 17th I lived there when my daughter was A baby.. Often heard foot steps runs across the hall even when no one else was home Digital temp would change over to heater or air vice versa or be bumped up or down, bathroom sink would turn on by itself, tv would turn off and on as well as the hall light, my daughters toys would go off even the ones that were harder to turn on, tapping on the window even with no trees close to the house.. All kinds of photos with orbs.. My daughter would often babble while staring into space like she was talking to someone I saw two different figures several different times as well as some of my company.. One figure was a little girl seemed like she was around the age of 3 and the other was always a real brief/quick moving black figure.. I never saw them at the same time or even all the time, I also had a bead curtain hanging in my kitchen that would just start swinging I'm sure there's others things I've forgotten about over the years but I always felt uncomfortable in certain rooms of the house if I was home alone... The House I live in now seems pretty normal... But we often tell stories about the old house I've always been curious if something ever happened there but wasn't sure how to about looking that up.

Angi - We have a ghost now. 102 yrs old house. We blames a lot of things on the dogs or the cat but now that they are gone or outside we have had several weird events. iPads sliding off the table, object flying off the top of entertainment center and tonight a drawer in the kitchen opened all the by itself right next to me.

Dean - Yes. I was laying in bed and in the closet there is an attic access. There is a light that was on a long cord. The light started swinging back and forth. I laid still pretended I was asleep scared to death. Next thing my bed started shaking up and down. I jumped out of bed and hauled ass to my parents room. I'll never forget it. Heck I could have been dreaming. But to this day I won't forget it and I was 8.

Kristine - Oh yea I believe in ghosts alright. My aunt had a house that several of us has lived in it at one time and we all had experiences in it. The one that got us all was a kitchen cabinet that when you cleaned the inside one of the sides it would bleed every time. Also, my best friend which has passed away 4 yes ago, would always get me by tickling my knees when I'd give her a hard time and now every once in awhile my knees are tickled.

Autumn - Justin & Shae, to this day I remember (like it was yesterday) seeing dishes fly off the top of your refrigerator after you told me all the things your ghosts would do!

Heather - Our house in Pond Creek is very old, was a bed and breakfast, has a long history. I don't know if the woman who owned it before us (she died at 99) died in the house. I hear someone walking around upstairs when I'm home alone. My mother saw someone walk by the banister up stairs, no one home. We don't even use the upstairs for anything other than storage right now. When we first moved here, I would get up to go to the bathroom and as I walked down the hall passing the stairway I sometimes would walk briskly because it seemed someone was standing on the stairs watching me. I've talked to whoever it is, and no longer feel afraid. Often smell a fragrance, musk like, I don't know, maybe its my daddy. He died in 2010 before we bought the house. His stuff is upstairs, his jeans hanging on an over the door hook where he put them. I had photos of my sons room with orbs, I took multiple pics, no dust particles. A couple I actually saw the orb pass in front of the screen as I took the pic.

Charlotte - Yes, I do now and have since 1976. Doors open and you can hear talking when you come home, if it is quiet in the house. My youngest Grandson has seen something when he was quite young. He turned as white as a sheet. He is still afraid here if the lights aren't all on. Our cat will jump and run or just stand and stare at whatever. This was allotted Indian land years ago. Maybe that is the reason.

Starr - As a realtor I've been in many homes over the years. A few have most definitely been haunted. Also a couple buildings downtown. I know I will never show the singer house again. Just saying.

Shirley - Yes I have lived in 3. The worst one on E. Cherokee. Woke up in the middle of the night half off my bed, every light in the house on, all drawers and doors hanging open, front and back doors open and my dog hiding under the table wimpering, forks were stuck in the kitchen ceiling. I got my daughter from her crib. And we left that night never to return.

Donna - I haven't seen her but my daughter and late husband has seen a lady standing at our back door. I had a medium at my home that talked to her.

Jo Ann - Yes. We lived in a 4 bedroom apartment in Nevada and I was going around the corner to bring a load of laundry to the upstairs bedrooms and I saw a little boy run from one room to another. I went and looked all over the room and checked the window and it was locked tight. There no where he could've went to especially since the window was locked and upstairs. My sons said they saw him a few times.

Tara - All these people with experiences yet it's "taboo" or our imagination. Spirits are everywhere, all around us no matter where we go. I often wonder if they think we are ghosts. What's even more interesting is the different dimensions within that dimension which is apparent through the stories in this feed.

Cheryl - My family moved into a house on King St. in Waukomis one time & moved right back out the next morning . Even before we had coffee . My husband asked me how my night was & I told him I didn't feel right & maybe that house was not the right one for us . LOL His response was well lets get out of here .

Todd - Heck yea, the on house on 8th street. Things would pile up on our bed while we were in the other room.

Shelley - The house we live in now is haunted by an old man and and old woman. Before we bought the house, the neighbor came over and told us the house was built in 1900 and is the old house in Benton, KS. People commonly saw someone in the upstairs windows and used to call the police before they said to stop calling about a break in all the time. We said we didn't care and moved in. My daughter got in trouble for leaving the upstairs lights on, until my husband turned them off himself before we left one night and all of the upstairs lights were on when we got home. I simply asked out loud if they could please stop turning the lights back on when we turn them off and it stopped. When you sit on the toilet and don't close the door, you will see the man walk from the living room into the bedroom. The woman is heavy set and wears a blue dress with tiny yellow and white flowers on it. She appears in the kitchen doorway. We saw her the first week we lived there. She was so solid my daughter actually thought someone had simply walked into the house. We were in the kitchen at the time. The man is dressed in a "wife beater" tank top and jeans with a black belt, barefoot, with tousled hair like he just woke up from a nap. Often, when I am home alone, I will hear the stairs creak as if someone is walking up and down them. It used to un nerve me, but these days, I am used to it. We were told by our nephew that it is the grandparents of a friend of his. He died of a heart attack in the house and she died of a stroke. Occasionally, there are cold spots that seem to brush past you and in the bedroom, I sometimes smell perfume, even though I did not open a bottle or spray anything. My folks in Enid had a ghost in the back of the kitchen until we built on in 1979.

Dede - The worst one was in the 600 block of W. Thompson. Back in the 50's a man found his wife with another man and killed her in that house. Radio & TV would come on, someone crying always about 3 am. Was so glad to get out of there.

Bruce - Used to have one or more where we now live. Never saw them but they smoked cigarettes and wore very strong perfume.

Dee Dee - Back home in Tenn, my dad had bought a bigger house for us. We would hear noises and someone walking up the wooded stairs from the basement and turn the door handle every night around midnight. After talking with neighbors the story went: The man that had lived there many years prior had killed his wife in the house, took her to a shed outside and burned it down. Then feeling so distraught of what he had done he hung himself in the basement. We got use to the ghost and it never hurt us. Only once did my sister see it and it was the shadowy outline of a man. The house is still in the family to this day and they say he occasionally will still walk those old wooden stairs.

Dee Dee - Here in Enid there is one in my son's closet. He will close and even lock the door and find it standing open. One day I was in the room and one of the dogs stopped and was looking toward the closet with the door open and barking his fool head off and would not stop till I got him out of the room. Don't know who or why, but it only lives in the closet. Has not hurt us for fifteen years so must be a good one.
