A private graveside service for Gerald Lee Simunek, 74 of Enid, who died Monday, March 16, 2020, at Greenbrier Nursing Home, will be held Friday, March 20, 2020, at Bison Cemetery with Rev. Mark Mason officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

Gerald was born May 20, 1945, in Enid to Emil F. and Emma (Navratil) Simunek of Bison, and lived on the family farm just northeast of Bison. He attended St. Joseph Catholic School in Bison, Waukomis High School, SWSC in Weatherford, and OSU in Stillwater.

During his youth, he served hundreds of Masses as an altar boy. After college, he moved to Enid and worked in construction his entire adult life. He was passionate about OU Football, reading, weight lifting, and bicycle riding. He was honest, hard-working, and never spoke unkindly about anyone.

Gerald is survived by his sister, Jeannette (David) Fletcher of Enid, nieces, Amy Harmon of Edmond, Becky Copello of San Diego, Lydia Sholing of Guam, nephews, Nick Fletcher of Luther, Joey Fletcher of Tulsa, long-time companion and friend, Barbara Jolley, his coffee drinking buddies, and his many friends at Greenbrier.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Our Daily Bread, OMRF-Parkinson Division.
