A Celebration of Life service for Gerald Lee Knouse, 89, of Covington will be on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the First Baptist Church in Covington at 2:00pm. Burial will be at Covington Cemetery. Arrangements are made by Anderson Burris Home & Crematory.
Jerry was born on December 19, 1935, in Iroquois, South Dakota to Lena (Adamson) and Harry Knouse and passed away surrounded by his family on February 11, 2025, in Enid.
Jerry joined the military in 1953, serving 20 years. During that time, he met the love of his life Evelyn “Evie” Gust and they married in Salina, Kansas on September 7, 1957. They raised 3 sons, Wendell, Gary and Gene. Living the military life, they moved and traveled all over, settling their family in Covington once he retired from the military. Jerry started civilian work at Vance Air Force Base as an aircraft mechanic in 1974 and retired in 1996. He was a part of the American Legion Post 190 and the Lions Club in Covington. Jerry enjoyed watching OU Sooners sports, eating at McDonalds, loved attending grandchildren’s extra curricular activities, woodworking, riding Harley- Davidson motorcycles, camping, serving his community and always had a good story to tell.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Evie; sons, Wendell and wife Debbie, Gary and fiancé Shirley, and Gene and wife Denise; 12 grandchildren ; 17 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lena and Harry Knouse; brothers Bob, Dean, Lyle and Lloyd; his sisters Carol and June and his long time friends “Cookie” and Larry Timm.
Memorials are encouraged to the American Legion Post 190.
