  • The 1519 Centennial Celebration

    Railroad Museum of Oklahoma 702 N. Washington, Enid, OK, United States

    The 1519 Centennial Celebration is happening on Saturday, October 18 from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. This free, family-friendly birthday bash, is celebrating the 100th birthday of the Frisco 1519 4-8-2 steam locomotive. The event will include the reading of a proclamation by Mayor David Mason, tours of the 1519's cab including a special commemorative "boarding pass". There will also be an Operation Lifesaver presentation by museum member Randy Lutz, the opportunity to see inside the cab of a BNSF locomotive, and several other fun activities. Smoke Wagon will be on-site with food for purchase.

All proceeds will go towards building a catch fence in front of the grandstands.   • United Way Chili Cook-Off

    The Annual United Way Chili Cook-Off, presented by Cintas will be held at the Stride Bank Event Center Arena on Friday, October 24th, 11am -1pm. Tickets to attend the event are $8 in advance and $10 at the door, which includes a drink, chili, and dessert, and may be purchased in advance from the United Way office or the day of the event at the door. The Chili Cook-Off committee anticipates chili entries to compete in three categories: Judge's Chili Choice, Best Booth Decorated and Top Dollar Chili! Tasting begins at 11am.
