Gene was born August 12, 1925 to William Howard Graham and Bernice Ford Graham on his maternal grandparents’ farm in Dewey County, OK. He passed away August 16, 2021 in Enid, OK.

During World War II, he served his country in the US Navy aboard an LST in the South Pacific for 3 years. He participated in the naval battles at Okinawa, Luzon, Leyte and others. After the conclusion of WW II, he returned home to Oakwood, OK. He married Leona Day on December 20, 1946 and they remained married until his death. After their marriage, he and Leona moved to Enid, establishing a home and raising their family.

In 1952, Gene became a member of the Enid Police Department. After approximately 25 years, at the time of retirement, he was a uniform captain. After retirement from Enid Police Department, he received an appointment to the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety as an Enforcement Officer. After 15 years of service to the Department of Public Safety, he retired.

From an early age, Gene displayed great interest and ability in problem solving, building things, and repairing all things mechanical. He was always willing to help anyone he knew with anything from car repairs to putting on a new roof without asking for anything in return. Throughout his life, Gene maintained unwavering spiritual faith. And he was a member of the Assembly of God church.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Gene is survived by his wife, Leona, of 74 years. His children, Hope Dilling and her husband, Dr. J.M. Dilling of Enid; Tim Graham and his wife, Wren Graham of Eddyville, KY; Phillip Graham and his wife, Sandy Graham of Hendersonville, TN; and Tom Graham of Enid survive him.
