Douglas "Doug" Grant Clark

Douglas “Doug” Grant Clark, son of Glendale and Lycindia Corr-Clark, was born on August 14, 1961 and died February 25, 2018 at his home in his beloved Tuscon, Arizona.

Doug was five years old when he moved to Drummond, OK. He enjoyed FFA with his favorite teacher, Mr. Milburn. He was very good on the debate and drama team with Mrs. Hughes. Doug had show steers that he was proud of and usually won Grand.

Doug graduated with the Class of 1980. He worked for the family custom harvest from 1967 until 1980. He learned how to drive trucks and combines at a really young age. He was a certified pipeline welder and a certified electrician.

In 1985, Doug joined the United States Navy. He was assigned to the USS Kitty Hawk for 18 months on a world cruise to bring it back to Norfolk, VA. He then was assigned to the USS Nimity. He was part of the “Stride Fighter Squadron” VF211-Fighting Checkmates. While on his deployment to the Gulf War, he was given two citations for bravery beyond the call of duty. One was signed by President George Bush, Sr. and the other signed by President Bill Clinton. He also received the Good Conduct Medal. Doug as honorably discharged in 1990 but stayed in the Reserves for another three years.

Doug then became an over-the-road truck driver. He loved meeting new people everywhere he went and never met a stranger.

One of Doug’s pride and joy was the turtle named “Clyde”. He lived in his own house on the veranda of Doug’s home. Doug was a proud member of AmVets in Tucson, AZ.

Survivors include his mother, LyCindia Clark, Enid; sister, Stacey L (Danny) Farney, Burlington, OK; three nieces, Remington Farney, Burlington, OK; Kelcie L. (Jeremy) Judd, Cherokee, OK; Kandi L. (Stephen) Novotny, Enid; three great nephews, Cameron Doffer; Scott Doffer; Terek Judd; one great niece, Anastasia Judd; several cousins, aunts, uncles and many friends.

He was preceded in death by father, Glendale Clark; his “Granny G” Beulah Corr Girtz; Glen and Ruby Clark.

Memorial services will be 1:00pm Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Driftwood Christian Church, Hwy 8, Cherokee, OK. Local arrangements are entrusted to Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be given through Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home to AmVets Lodge 770, 3015 S. Kinney Rd., Tucson, AZ 85713.
