Donald Grey Anderson 85 years of age, passed from this life and entered into the presence of his Lord on Friday, July 31, 2026. Don was born on September 15,1940 in Enid, Oklahoma to Grey and Bernice Anderson. He began school at Englewood and then graduated from Ringwood Public Schools. Don met the love of his life and married Carrol Ann Broomfield from Ames on May 24, 1960, in Ames, Oklahoma. They have celebrated 66 years of marriage and to that union was born three children, Monte, Dedria and Cody. Immediately following their wedding, they joined a harvest crew that cut wheat from Oklahoma as far as they could go north. Then after returning back to Ringwood they headed to Canyon, Texas, where Monte was born. While in the Canyon area, Don worked for Safeway Grocery Stores.
Don and Carrol made their way back to the Enid area where Don was employed at Bond Bread Company, delivering bread to many rural grocery stores. Following his time at Bond Bread Company, Don became an independent contractor pumping wells in the oil field and began his production agriculture life as a farmer and cattle producer. In 1973, Don and Carrol established their home in Ringwood where they have resided for 53 years. During that time Don had purchased the Watonga Livestock Auction, started A2 Cattle Company and Anderson Farms. For 30 years Don worked for Caprock Industries, where he happily retired. During his time with Caprock, he would buy cattle at the Oklahoma National Stock Yards, Cherokee Livestock Sales, Fairview Sale Barn, Enid Livestock, Pratt, Anthony and Dodge City when needed. There would be many years that Don would be responsible overseeing the contracts on 28,000 head of cattle each year. As a cattle buyer in the livestock industry, he became very well respected and awarded for his expertise and experience. Don has continued to work alongside his son and grandson’s operating Anderson Farms, which he found great pleasure and fulfillment in doing.
Don served as the President of the Major County Fair Board from 1983 to 1989. During this time, he labored hard to bring back the premium auction with added support from local business, livestock firms, and local banks to support young people in 4-H and FFA and their livestock projects at the Spring Livestock Show. He continued to support that premium auction every year. Don faithfully served as an Elder at Faith Center Fellowship in Meno, Oklahoma for over 25 years. His faithful stewardship and counsel unto the mission and vision of Faith Center will be forever valued. He was deeply loved by his community of faith in the local church and many of them would call him Papa and would say they sure loved a hug from Papa. Don loved to fish and his greatest passion was his family. He loved with such deep and evident passion that every one of his children and grandchildren knew they were loved. A legacy of faith, character, integrity and unselfish service is what he lived and now leaves the next generation.
Don is survived by one daughter Dedria and husband Robert Bryan of Elysian Fields, TX. One son Cody and wife Amy Anderson of Ringwood, OK. Eleven grandchildren, Whitney Scott of Ringwood, Aubrey Anderson and wife Jordyn of Lawton, Heston Scott of Marshall Texas, Allie Anderson-Lagrange and Husband John of Okeene, Abigail Anderson of Oklahoma City, Alexa and Husband Miles Howe of Okeene, Alec and wife Gracyn Anderson of Stillwater, Adam Anderson of Ringwood, Caleb Bryan of Elysian Fields, Texas, Ayven Anderson of Ringwood. Five great grandchildren, Triston, Cheyanne, Grey, Adeline, and Kohen. Sister, Mary Lou Rowley, other relatives and many friends.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Bob Anderson, Gary Anderson, sister, Kathie Johnson. Spouse Carrol Anderson, his son Monte Anderson, son-in-law H. O. Scott, grandson Austin Anderson, and daughter-in-law Mary Anderson.
Celebration of Life Service for Don Anderson will be 10:00 am Friday, August 7, 2026 at The Faith Center in Meno, with burial to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials may be made to Faith Center Building Fund through Anderson-Burris.
