Joe Bryant Playing In Enid

Celebrating the Life of "Doc" Joe Bryant

ENID, OK - When I was a kid living in Enid, Oklahoma, my dentist was Dr. Bryant. Little did I know then that he was actually a very talented trumpeter performing with such stars as Doc Severinsen and Tommy Newsom from the Tonight Show Band, Paul Guervero of the Woody Herman Band, Mike Vax and Don Joesph of the Stan Kenton Band and Jack Sperling of the Glenn Miller and Tex Beneke Bands.
-
Joe “Doc” Bryant was last in Enid to perform with Kyle Dillingham in February, 2018 for “Together Again” – A Valentine’s Concert & Dinner!
-
The accomplished jazz musician, retired Enid dentist, World War II and Korean War veteran and great-grandfather "Doc" Joe Stanley Bryant died December 13 at his home in Austin, Texas, with his wife Patricia by his side. Bryant is survived by wife Patricia, three sons, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and Bryant's brother John.
-
There will be a celebration of the life and music of Enid native “Doc” Joe Bryant Sunday, December 30 at 2 pm at Gaslight Theatre, 221 N. Independence. As part of this celebration of life, there will be public screening of "Impassioned – A Jazz Documentary" about the life and music of “Doc” produced by the Austin Jazz Alliance and Kianga Films. All are welcome.
