Did Crayola Retire The Dandelion Crayon?

NEW YORK — Crayola said they would retire one color from their 24-count box for the first time in their history. The company took to social media and posted the information on their Facebook Page.

Crayola originally said they wouldn't announce the top-secret color that will be permanently retired until Friday, which is National Crayon Day. But they posted a surprise video on Thursday, March 30 saying their beloved Dandelion had decided to announce his early retirement. The Company Website continues to show the countdown until the big announcement on Friday.

As of 2014, the current colors that make up a standard Crayola box are red, yellow, blue, brown, orange, green, violet, black, carnation pink, yellow orange, blue green, red violet, red orange, yellow green, blue violet, white, violet red, dandelion, cerulean, apricot, scarlet, green yellow, indigo and gray.

Some online fans are speculating this could be an April Fools’ Day prank. April 1 is the day after the announcement. If they really have retired Dandelion, will they announce a new replacement color? Stay tuned!
-
The official announcement will be live-streamed on Crayola’s Facebook page at 7:45 a.m. CST Friday, March 31.
