David Wesley McWilliams

December 30, 1936 - June 6, 2023

David Wesley McWilliams 86 of Lamont Oklahoma passed on to be with his Lord and Savior on June 6, 2023. David was born to Richard and Dorothy McWilliams on December 30, 1936 in rural North Central, Oklahoma. He attended Frog Holler school in his early years. His family moved to Lamont during his early teens. He was a 1954 graduate Lamont. Taking a short break to working as a cowboy on a ranch in Kansas, he served in the Navy from 1955 to 1959, where he served in the Atlantic and Mediterranean on the battleship Iowa. After his travels in the Navy, he went back home to be with family and to help with the farm. He then made his way to California where his sister lived at the time and met his wife, Dorothea Tingley, also from Lamont, Ok. They eloped to Vegas in 1962. In 1967 David and Dorothea returned to Lamont to raise their three children. David was a hard working man. He took many jobs to support his family including a career as Roughneck, as a welder in the Conoco refinery, After retiring from Conoco David began a rural welding business. After retiring from welding he kept busy working as salesman of sporting goods for Walmart in Blackwell and Ponca City. He was an intelligent, humble, stoic man who left a legacy of wisdom to his children, grandchildren, and great grand children.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, brothers Harold, Bob, Richard, and Newt; sisters Cathy and Betty; wife Dorothea; and children Joan Rector and John David.

He is survived by, son Dan McWilliams of Lamont, grandsons Logan McWilliams and Ryan Rector; granddaughters Kayla Zaparesky, Kelli Dollarhide, Stephanie Lampe, and Carrie Lawson; and many great grand children.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 pm Monday, June 12, 2023 in Lamont Cemetery with Pastor Jeff McReynolds officiating. Arrangements are under the kind guidance of the Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service.
