Daphne Kay (Norris) Smith

Daphne Smith, 64, has departed from this life peacefully on Thursday, December 21, 2017 in her Norman, Oklahoma home.

Daphne was born to Myrtle Mae Norris-Folsom and James Denver Norris on December 8, 1953 in Oklahoma, City, Oklahoma at University Hospital. She went to high school at John Marshall and Moore High Schools. She graduated from OCCC with an associate’s degree in Nursing on December 19, 1992. She had a deep need to care for people and took her career as a Nurse personally with every patient that she had. She enjoyed volunteering at the Thunderbird Clubhouse in Norman, where she made family bonds with the friends she made there.

Daphne had the brightest spirit and an extremely captivating smile, she never met a stranger-literally. She loved people and treated all people, from all walks of life, as if they were a friend. She loved loved loved to write and would write about anything. She also enjoyed watching movies, going to events for her grandchildren, going out to eat and she loved to talk-to anyone. But she loved nothing more than her family, her children and her grandchildren. This is where she was the happiest. She would do anything and everything for her family, no matter what she was going through.
Daphne is preceded in death by her father James Denver Norris.

Daphne is survived by her mother, Myrtle Mae Norris-Folsom and step-father George Folsom; aunt, Joni Freeman Smith Case; three sisters, Peggy Wood, Myrtle Jean Zimmerman and Dawna Aldrich; three brothers, James Norris, Phil Norris and Tim Norris; son, Shanon Smith; daughter, Rene’ Smith; seven grandchildren, Tyran Smith, Cameron Smith, Kevin Smith, Shianne Smith, Bailey Smith, Preslee Smith and Parker Smith; as well as her brother and sister-in-laws and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Celebration of life services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Journey Church in Norman with Pastor Alan Sample officiating.

You have fought the toughest battle, the strength and love you showed through it all will never be forgotten, YOU will never be forgotten. You are loved and will be missed until we meet again.
