Danny Lee Wheeler

April 3, 1950 - March 11, 2024

The services celebrating and honoring the life of Danny Lee Wheeler, 73, of Ringwood, will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday March 15, 2024, at the Faith Center Fellowship in Meno, Oklahoma. Burial will follow in the Enid Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings, A Life Celebration Home.

Danny was born April 3, 1950 to Howard William and Vivian Izetta Wheeler, in Enid, Oklahoma. He passed from this life and entered Heaven at home on March 11, 2024, in Ringwood, Oklahoma. He was pronounced at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Enid, Oklahoma.

He was raised and educated in Norman, Oklahoma. He graduated from Norman High School with the class of 1969. Danny attended College at Eastern Oklahoma State University, where he majored in forestry. He married Betty Jeneane Holloway, March 8, 1969 and from this union they had two children, LaVeta Ann and Lester Gene Wheeler. They made their home in Wilburton, Oklahoma before moving to Mustang Oklahoma.

September 8, 1976, Danny married Kim Jane Wheeler. They had one child, Kimberly Ann Wheeler and lived in Mustang, Oklahoma where they raised their children. Danny worked for Daton Tires and made his career at General Motors working on the assembly line until he retired. After retiring, Danny moved his family to Ringwood, Oklahoma.

Danny enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising cattle, being outdoors, watching old westerns, especially Gunsmoke and playing cards. He was an avid OU football and softball fan and most recently became interested in track and field. He absolutely loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was active in his church, Faith Center Fellowship where he was known as “Papa” to many.

Danny Lee Wheeler made Jesus Christ his personal Lord and Savior. He followed this commitment in baptism. He regularly attended Church at Faith Center Fellowship. He loved his church family and friends. Most of all, Danny absolutely loved and adored his family. It was his desire for his family to be well, love each other, support each other and for them to love God.

He is survived by his daughters, LaVeta Wheeler Southwell and husband Randy, of Yukon, and Kimberly Wheeler, of the home, one son, Lester Wheeler and wife Julie, of Bethany. He had one honorary son, Scott Justus and wife Betty, of Mustang. He also had one honorary daughter, Misty Chance. In addition, Danny was “Papa” to his grandchildren, Brianna Southwell, Stephen Wheeler, Anna Wheeler, Daniel Wheeler, Elisabeth Wheeler, and Samuel Wheeler. Great-grandchildren included Corbin Lee Southwell, Oliver Rowe, Clementine Rowe, and Coraline Mae Rowe. He is also survived by his brother, Stanley Howard and wife Lynne Wheeler of Norman, Oklahoma. Danny had numerous loved ones including, Wheeler and Beadles cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of over 45 years, Kim Wheeler, his parents Howard and Vivian Wheeler, his brother Bill Wheeler and sister Donna Ruth Wheeler.

The family requests that memorials be made in his honor to Faith Center Fellowship or the Kimberly Wheeler Fund with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds. Donations may also be made to Furever Friends in his memory.
