Dale D. Niehus

March 21, 1929 - April 10, 2024

A Celebration of Life for Dale D. Niehus, age 95 of Fairmont, Oklahoma will be Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Zion Lutheran Church, Fairmont, OK, with Rev. Mark Blakeman and Rev Timothy Dorsch, officiating. Interment will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Fairmont, OK, under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

Dale was born March 21, 1929, on the family farm to Clarence C. Niehus and Clara (Helberg) Niehus, and passed away April 10, 2024 at his home. He grew up in rural Fairmont and attended Zion Lutheran School through the 8th. grade and graduated from Garber Public Schools in 1947. He lived his entire life in the Fairmont area.

On February 18, 1951, he was united in marriage to Wilma Seedorf. To this union, two children were born, one son and one daughter, Steven D. Niehus and Sharon L. (Niehus) Reeves.

On August 15, 2003, he was united in marriage to Jacquita (Jackie) Noftsger. To this union was added Terri Lynn Noftsger and Elizabeth Suzanne Williams (John).

Dale farmed all his life and worked part-time jobs at Hume Motor Co. and Dennett’s Conoco Station. He also owned and operated the family business, Dale’s Sales for 34 years.

Dale and Jackie were also Presidents of the Northwest District of Square Dance Club’s for 8 years and the Levis ‘n Lace Square Dance Club in Enid until it went silent in 2011.

Dale was a member and attended Zion Lutheran Church all his life.

Dale had formerly held the position of Sunday School Treasurer at Zion Lutheran Church and sat on the Board of Directors at Far-Gas Propane and Fuel Station in Enid, OK. He sang in the church choir on Sundays and was a member of the Fairmont Men’s Quartet. The Quartet sang at funerals, and parties, or anytime anyone asked them. They even sang one night on the football field at Oklahoma State during an event. Dale always carried a list of songs they knew in his shirt pocket. He was always prepared.

He is survived by his wife Jackie of the home, son Steve (Denie) Niehus and daughter Sharon (Terry) Reeves. Step-daughters Terri Lynn Noftsger, Elizabeth Suzanne (John) Williams, grandchildren Chad (Jenni) Niehus, Brad (Becky) Niehus, Jason Reeves, Jeremy (Diane) Reeves, Janee’ (Rick) Jones, Jackson Williams, Dawson Williams, and Emery Williams, sister Darlis Anthony, ten great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Norlyne Keahey and brother-in-law Kenneth Keahey, and a great-grandson, Caleb Niehus.

Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church of Fairmont, OK or Hospice Circle of Love, through the funeral home.
