CSCF Distributed Over $2.1 Million in 2024

ENID, OK - Northwest Oklahoma is stronger in the new year thanks to the dedication of local nonprofits and the generosity of donors who believe in their missions. In 2024, the Cherokee Strip Community Foundation (CSCF) proudly distributed more than $2.1 million to support charitable needs across our region.

Of this total, $1.2 million was recently distributed to 63 area nonprofits named as beneficiaries of designated endowed funds. These endowed funds create a lasting legacy, providing consistent and reliable support for specific programs and organizations chosen by donors. In an era of economic uncertainty, these funds are lifelines for nonprofits, allowing them to focus on their vital work without worrying about financial stability.

CSCF also distributed:
• $350,000 in grants from Donor Advised Funds, empowering donors to address pressing community needs.
• $66,000 through our annual competitive grant cycle, supporting innovative projects that make a difference locally.
• $30,000 to enhance nonprofit leadership and strengthen the organizations serving our region.

In addition, 15 endowed scholarship funds administered by CSCF awarded over $365,000 in scholarships to 150 Garfield County students this year, investing in the future leaders of our community.

Amplifying the Work of Local Nonprofits
The real heroes of this story are the nonprofits on the frontlines—feeding families, educating children, providing healthcare, and addressing countless other needs. At CSCF, we see ourselves as partners in their mission, working to mobilize resources and connect donors to the causes they care about most.

“Community foundations like CSCF are designed to create a permanent source of community capital,” said Carrie Sanders, Executive Director. “By building these funds, we ensure that the good work happening today continues for generations to come.”

What Is an Endowment, and Why Does It Matter?
An endowment is a gift that keeps on giving. Donors establish endowment funds to support the causes they love, and the principal of the fund is invested. Each year, a portion of the earnings is distributed to the nonprofit beneficiary, while the fund continues to grow. It’s a way to create a lasting impact—helping nonprofits not just survive but thrive.

A Community United for Good
CSCF administers more than 300 funds, each tailored to meet unique community needs. From scholarships that open doors for students to grants that empower nonprofits, these funds make Northwest Oklahoma a better place to live for everyone.

Our Board of Directors is made up of local leaders who are deeply connected to the needs and opportunities in our community. As members of the Council on Foundations, we are part of a network of more than 800 community foundations nationwide working together to strengthen communities with over $70 billion in combined assets.
