Christmas Eve Fire in Enid

An early morning fire broke out on south Lincoln this Christmas Eve. Firefighters were called to the fire right around 6am and found the home already engulfed. The home is located on south Lincoln only about 2 blocks from Owen K. Garriott. Smoke filled the area and left a heavy cloud crossing Garriott as drivers made their way around time.

No injuries were reported at this time although the fire seemed to be pretty extensive. Neighbors across the street did not know if the owners were home at the time of the fire. Crews spent most of the morning cleaning up and make sure hot spots would not reignite.

The home is owned by Deborah Dora Lee Parton who uses it as a local rental. Deborah posted on the Enid Buzz Facebook Page that the home was located at 429 S. Lincoln and was currently being rented. The home did not have insurance. Deborah stated that she wanted to keep the rent low to help renters save money. Instead of insurance she had an alarm system but on the home to alert in case of fire. Unfortunately the renters may not have activated the system.

Deborah says the home is a total loss and is nothing but a burned out frame. The tenants were away at a relatives for the holiday.

We will report more information as we get it.
