Chapman Named Superintendent of Chisholm Public Schools

ENID, OK - The Chisholm Board of Education has selected Marcus Chapman as the district’s next superintendent. Chisholm board members approved his hiring during a regular board meeting Wednesday night.

Chapman, currently the superintendent for Ryan Public Schools, will officially begin his duties July 1.

“We are excited to welcome Mr. Chapman to the Longhorn Community. The board is very familiar with Mr. Chapman through his reputation and the recommendations of educational partners within our community and state,” Danielle Deterding, Chisholm School Board President, said. “We intentionally sought him out and are confident that Mr. Chapman will hit the ground running and continue Chisholm’s high level of achievement.”

Chapman began his career as a secondary math teacher at Ft. Supply Public Schools. After one year he moved to Oklahoma Union Public Schools where he taught math and coached baseball and football for three years. Mr. Chapman spent one year at Lindsay Public Schools in the same role before moving to Aline-Cleo to begin his career in administration as the K-12 Principal. Canton Public Schools then hired him where he spent 5 years as the high school principal. His most recent experience comes as the superintendent of Ryan Public Schools where he has been for the past 7 years.

Mr. Chapman graduated from Timberlake High School in 2000. He received his associate degree from Northern Oklahoma College in Enid and was a member of the Jets’ baseball team for 2 years. He then moved to Alva and received his bachelor’s degree in mathematics. During his first year as a teacher, he attended classes at Southwestern Oklahoma State University and completed his master’s degree in education administration. He is currently attending Liberty University seeking his doctorate in administration & supervision: educational leadership.

“I have known Marcus for over 20 years, and I am excited for the Chisholm community. Mr. Chapman is a man of exceptional character, experience, and work ethic. He will be a tremendous leader,” stated Jeremy Hise, Vice President for Northern Oklahoma College Enid.

As a native of northwest Oklahoma, Chapman is honored to be selected Superintendent of Chisholm Public Schools.

Mr. Chapman will be moving to the Chisholm District along with his wife Dustina and their 5 children; Cruz-11, Phoebe-9, Blue-8, Sky-8, and Blix-7 will all attend Chisholm Public Schools.
