Buddie “Bubba” Peat

July 3, 1942 – September 20, 2021

The services celebrating and honoring the life of Buddie “Bubba” Peat, 79, of Enid, will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday October 2, 2021, in the Waukomis Cemetery under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. 

Buddie was a resident of the Norman Veterans Retirement Home in Norman, Oklahoma at the time of his passing. 

Buddie was born July 3, 1942 the son of Charles F. Peat and Carrie Henneke Peat and went to be with his Heavenly Father due to complications of COVID-19 on September 20, 2021.

Buddie graduated from Garber High School in 1960. After graduation he served in the United States Army, during the Vietnam War.  He earned the Vietnam Service medal, National Defense Service Medal and Operator SP Equipment Badge.  He was Honorably discharged on November 23, 1970.

Buddie was a welder by trade. He worked for Cummins Construction as such.  He then worked for Ray I. Jones Service Co. as a Welder and Rig Up Supervisor. Buddie was production Superintendent for Sand Point Productions until his retirement due to medical reasons. 

Buddie loved the stock car races.  In their younger years Buddie and his brothers would be at The Enid Speedway helping to keep the track cleared with their wrecker.  He and his brother Bruce traveled to numerous tracks around Oklahoma and Kansas to watch “The Races”.

He is survived by wife Barbara. Son Kenneth Sawyer and wife Brandi. Daughter Kathy Liew and husband Blaine Holt. Four grandchildren. Sister Nancy and husband Paul of Tallahassee, Florida, brother Floyd (Boyd) and wife Brenda of Enid, brother Bruce of Fairmont, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Jim, Charles, Richard, and Joe.
