Billy Don Bloss

3728546Celebration of Life for Billy Don Bloss, 82 of Enid, will be 1:30pm Wednesday, May 25, 2016 in the Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Susan Southall officiating. Burial will follow in Karoma Cemetery, Goltry. The family will receive friends 6-8pm Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.

Billy was born November 29, 1933 in Jet, OK and died Sunday, May 22, 2016 in his home surrounded by the love of his family. He was raised at Grandma’s Homeplace in Goltry, OK. In 1954, Billy graduated from the Oklahoma School for the Deaf in Sulphur, OK. During his school years at Sulphur, he was one of the school’s most prolific athletes and received many awards. He continued his passion and enthusiasm for sports by attending many local high school sporting events.

On July 28, 1957, Billy married Marlene Carroll Korte in Kansas City, KS and made their home and family in Enid, OK.

Billy worked at Enid News and Eagle until his retirement in 1995. He was founder and President of Enid Lions Club for the Deaf. He was an advocate and supporter of the Oklahoma School for the Deaf. He was founder of Enid Happy Deaf Campers Association, former President of Enid’s Annual Deaf Picnic and former President of the Enid Deaf Club.

Billy is survived by his loving wife, Marlene; son, Mike Bloss; sister, Verna Pendergraft; two granddaughters, Nikki Juhnke and husband, Brent; their children, Leah, Ashton and Lauryn; Kristen Cantrell and her children, Jesse and Cole; grandson, Joseph Maddox and aunt, Sonya Hyke.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Bloss and Viola Carter; son, Melvin D. Bloss; sister, Edna Hotson and several aunts and uncles.

Memorial donations may be given through Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home to Oklahoma School for the Deaf.
