ENID, Okla. - The public was invited to spend a Tuesday afternoon on August 30 checking out Autry Technology Center at the Community Action Event. The community event showcased nearly 30 career training programs. Parents, prospective students, local business people and interested taxpayers stopped by to see firsthand how diverse career and technology education can be at Autry.

“Autry offers a wide variety of opportunities to our community,” said Mandy Mayberry, Director of Communications, Marketing and Recruiting at Autry. “From full-time career programs to short-term classes to working with over 500 businesses, this event will showcase some things you may not know Autry did.”

The Air Evac Lifeteam had their helicopter on site and spoke with potential paramedics and nurses. There was a live car rescue training demonstration, computer-aided drafting and animation demonstrations in Drafting, mock surgeries in Surgical Technology and much more. Culinary students were even cooking up some great specialties.

As part of the CareerTech system, high school students spend a half day at their home high school and a half day at Autry in theory and hands-on courses.  Adult students have the option to attend half a day or all day. Autry is tuition free for district high school students. Students can receive credits for high school courses in Algebra II, Geometry, Mathematics of Finance, Anatomy, Physiology, Calculus and Physics.

Scholarships and financial aid are available for qualifying adults. If you need help filling out the Free Applications for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form, Autry’s financial aid office will be glad to help.
