ENID, OK - On Wednesday, October 25th, 2017 an armed robbery was reported at the Check Into Cash business located at 2119 W. Owen K. Garriott Rd. in Enid. During the robbery, a male suspect forced the clerk at gunpoint to empty the cash drawer and then restrain herself with duct tape.
-
Evidence was scarce and there were no immediate leads until a citizen who lived in a nearby neighborhood contacted the police. The citizen reported seeing strange activity that he believed may have been related to the robbery.
-
Detectives began investigating this new information. They were assisted by the Narcotics Unit and the newly formed Street Crimes Unit, who spent many hours conducting surveillance on several locations of interest. The citizen remained in contact with the police and continued to provide relevant information.

On Wednesday, November 1st, Detectives served search warrants at two residences and two vehicles that were at other, separate, locations in Enid. At 402 S. Garfield they arrested Cayla Hall, age 22, and Monica Miller, age 23 for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia found during the search. They also located duct tape and an article of clothing inside believed to have been worn by the robbery suspect.
-
During a subsequent interview, Monica Miller admitted to taking part in the robbery. She identified Raymond D. Staples Jr, age 38, as the armed robber and she confessed to conspiring with him to commit the robbery, acting as the getaway driver, and receiving a portion of the proceeds.
-
An arrest warrant was immediately obtained charging Staples with one count of Robbery with a Firearm with a $200,000 bond. Detectives learned that Staples was in Tulsa, OK and asked the Tulsa Police Department’s Fugitive Apprehension Unit for assistance. Early Wednesday evening they successfully located and apprehended Staples in Tulsa.
