MAJOR COUNTY, OK – The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) was requested by the Major County Sheriff’s Office to investigate a homicide that occurred on Sunday night. The incident occurred at a residence on E. County Road 51 in Ringwood, Okla. When deputies arrived on scene they found 40-year-old Kristan Newton dead in his yard from gunshot wounds. Newton and his 16-year-old step-son had been arguing when the juvenile shot Newton. Newton was pronounced dead at the scene.

The juvenile was arrested by OSBI agents early this morning and booked into the Major County Jail on a charge of Murder in the First Degree. The Major County Sheriff’s Office and the Oklahoma Office of the Chief Medical Examiner assisted the OSBI with this investigation.
