Allen Ray Hopkins

January 26, 1954 - February 18, 2021

A memorial service honoring the life of Allen Ray Hopkins, 67, of Waukomis, OK will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at Waukomis United Methodist Church with Rev. Kris Mayberry officiating. He was born January 26, 1954 to ​Arlie Hopkins​ and Betty Halford in Lovington, New Mexico and passed from this life on Thursday, February 18, 2021, in Waukomis, OK. He graduated from Hennessey High School​, where he played football and baseball. ​He served in the U.S. Army 1968-1971 and was a Vietnam Veteran. Allen spent a majority of his life working as a computer programmer. He loved computers and was able to figure out technical problems quickly. He also had experience working in the oil field and for Sears. He had previously lived in the communities of Hennessey and Lacy.

Allen grew up spending summers in New Mexico with his grandparents. While there he enjoyed fishing with his cousins Glenn and Kelly. His Uncle Dexter taught him guitar at age six. He played almost every day and especially loved the times when he was able to play music with his friend, Don Haworth. Allen was a faithful member of Waukomis United Methodist Church. He was known as a man who was very smart and who loved God. Allen married Patricia Marney on June 24, 2017 at the United Methodist Church of Waukomis. He shared with his pastor that his time with Patricia were the happiest days of his life.

He is survived by wife, Patricia Hopkins, of the home, daughter Christina Turner and husband, Logan, of Augusta, KS, a step-daughter Kristin Mitchell, step-son Curtis Ingmire and grandchildren Krisalee, Charlie and Harper Turner, Taylor, Samara, Conner, and Brooklyn Mitchell.

He was preceded in death by Arlie Hopkins, Betty Halford, Roby Hopkins.

Memorials in his name may be made to Disabled Veterans Association or Honor Flight.
