Allan Frank Sloup

The Celebration of Life for Allan Frank Sloup, 89, of Enid will be 2:00 pm, Monday, February 12, 2018 at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Terry Chick officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery at the Garden Chapel under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Allan was born in Bellville, Illinois on June 30, 1928 to Frank and Marie Cecilia (Vistine) Sloup and passed away February 6, 2018 in Enid, OK. His mother came to the United States by ship in 1903 at the age of 2 from Czechoslovakia with her parents and 2 brothers. His dad was born northeast of Bison. He attended school at Ringwood, Wichita, Kansas and Enid at Harrison, Woodrow Wilson, Emerson, St Joseph and Enid High. At age 10, he became a member of the Olivet Baptist Church located on North Washington, Enid. He has been a member of Bible Baptist Church at 11th and Maple, Enid for over 60 years.

While working at the drugstore around 1948 at age 20, two young boys, one whose mother also worked at the drug store, came to him and asked if he would be their Little League baseball coach of the thirteen and under league, so he did. Then in 1966 when he was 38, he coached age 9 and under in baseball 2 years. Later he coached age 10 and under for two years. Then he helped another coach for age 11 and under for 1 year. One of the youngsters later was Mayor of Enid; another was superintendent of Enid Schools; another played for the Pittsburg Pirates; and another later became an auto dealer. All his life he was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed playing cards.

On January 24, 1949 he and Mary Sue Wackerman were married in the First Baptist Church, Enid by Rev. M. F. Ewton. They were blessed with daughter, Sharyl, son, Gary, and son, Randy who is now deceased.

He worked in sales for Bond Bread Company in Ponca City and Enid for 27 years. Later he worked in sales for Rainbo Bread in Enid 10 years, retiring in September 1987. Upon retiring they traveled much of the United States. They joined the Coffee Mates Camping Club and he served as Vice President one year and President three years. By September 1988 he started driving dealer trades for car dealers. He had driven over a million miles for car dealers as of December 2007. Sometimes he would fly one way and drive back to deliver cars. After May 2010 he discontinued this activity having driven for 22 years.

On September 22, 2000 he married Mary Lou Swander in Eureka Springs, AR.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Randy in 1990; wife Mary Sue, in 1998; and brother in law Lynn Maxwell.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Sloup, of the home in Enid; daughter, Sharyl and husband John Gephart and family, of Enid; son, Gary and wife LaRhonda Sloup and family, of Oklahoma City; sisters, Sara and husband Darrell Hawkins, Pennsylvania; Arlene and husband Bob Bottenfield, Riverside, CA; and Aline Maxwell, Albuquerque, NM. He also leaves, ten grandchildren; Erin, Stephanie, Kasey, Kristen, Mary, Rileigh, Noah, Amanda, Bradyn and Hannah; and nine great grandchildren; Cortnee, Brooke, Parker, Sadie, Harlen, Zealand, Aekley, Rowan, and Mason.

Memorials may be made to Garfield County Senior Center or Bible Baptist Church with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
