A private graveside service honoring the life of Evelyn Rogers, 90, of Enid will be under the direction of Brown-Cummings, A Life Celebration Home.
Dorothe Evelyn Martin was born on June 17, 1936 to Robert and Mary Martin in Silsbee, Texas. She passed away on September 4, 2026 at St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by her family.
Evelyn was raised and educated in Texas before moving to Enid as a young child, where she attended Enid Public Schools. On September 17, 1953, she married Gene Ray Rogers and they raised three children: Terry, Dean, and Tammy.
Evelyn was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She lovingly cared for her children at home while they were young, creating a warm and welcoming home for her family. She sold Avon, Mary Kay Cosmetics and in the 1980’s was co-owner of Kiddie Korner, a children’s clothing store, for several years.
Throughout her life, she enjoyed exercise classes and was involved in T.O.P.S. and K.O.P.S., serving as an officer in both organizations. She was a wonderful seamstress and found joy in crocheting, gardening, bowling, traveling, riding motorcycles and going on adventures with Gene and her family. She especially enjoyed their trips to Fun Valley, Colorado.
Evelyn took great pride in her home and neighborhood. She was known for keeping the flowerbed entrance to The Village beautifully maintained for many years.
Her family was very important to her and she found great joy in being surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children: Dean and Kris Rogers, Tammy and Stuart Simco; grandchildren: Brady Rogers, Kelly and Corey Briix, Lindsey Simco, Natalie and Todd Garrett, Lacie and Ahren Currey, Christopher and Rachel Rogers; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Gene Rogers; her parents; her oldest son, Terry Gene Rogers; her grandson, Landon Simco; and all her siblings, Earnest Martin, Harold Martin, Earl Martin, Ellen Chappell, Edith Williams, and Donald Gene Martin.
Memorials may be made in Evelyn’s honor to Vital Caring Hospice or Emmanuel Enid, with Brown-Cummings serving as custodian of the funds.
