Funeral service for Melissa J. Wright, 83 of Enid, will be November 21, 2025 at 2:00 pm in Grace Mennonite Church with Pastor Mike Sommerfeld and Chaplain Gary Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow in Bethany Cemetery, Enid.
Melissa was born November 4, 1942 in San Francisco, California and passed away November 11, 2025 in Enid, Oklahoma.
She grew up in Arizona. Melissa graduated from high school and married. Durin her husband’s military career, they lived in Germany, Colorado and Texas. On February 26, 1983, Melissa married Richard Wright in Choctaw, Oklahoma. They made their home in Newalla, Oklahoma, Binger, Oklahoma, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Hydro, Oklahoma. Melissa and Richard moved to Enid in 2017. She enjoyed taking care of the many farm animals they had during the time they lived at Hydro.
Melissa was preceded in death by her mother, Sue; daughter, Jodi Wright; great grandson, Alex Butterfield; daughter-in-law, Tanya Romero.
She is survived by her husband, Richard; children, Kenneth Butterfield, Kelley Simnick, Kevin Butterfield, Richard Wright, Kirk Butterfield, Doreen Wright and Amy Wright; 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; sister, Diane Brunk; other relatives and friends.
