ENID, OK - After 45 years of devoted service with UPS, Larry Miller of Enid, Oklahoma is retiring. Even more impressive, Larry is celebrating 40 consecutive years of accident-free driving—a rare and distinguished milestone recognized by UPS’s Circle of Honor, which honors elite drivers for safety and dedication.
Larry began his UPS career on April 22, 1980, and has since become a beloved figure on his West Enid delivery route, making 150–200 stops per day. Earlier in his career, he also delivered to Oakwood Mall, back when it was a bustling center of local activity. Over the years, he built lasting relationships with customers, business owners, and neighbors alike.
Beyond his exceptional driving record, Larry has made major contributions through community service:
• He founded the “Spruce Up a Life” partnership with the Salvation Army in 1997. Using UPS trucks and volunteers, the program delivers donated Christmas trees and gifts to families in need. It became so successful that other UPS districts across the country adopted the model.
• He helped form the Enid UPS Safety Committee, the first in the Red River District (Oklahoma and Texas), which remains a model for others over 25 years later.
• He secured a $5,000 UPS Foundation grant to help launch “The Fire Safety House”, a mobile trailer that educates children statewide on fire prevention.
• He volunteered in the aftermath of the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, supporting FEMA and the FBI by transporting essential materials and later aiding in the recovery operations.
• He has been recognized with numerous honors including the UPS Trailblazers Award, a nomination for the Jim Casey Community Service Award, and a personal letter of commendation from Senator Robert Milacek.
UPS will be honoring Larry at a retirement celebration on Thursday August 28th at 8:15am located at the UPS center at 1834 W Chestnut Ave, Enid, OK 73703.
