17 Year Old Author Publishes Her Debut Novel

ENID, OK - When Taelyn Brown fractured her back a few years ago, she thought all of her plans and dreams had been destroyed. Then, Taelyn found writing. After working on her book for two years, her Young Adult Romance Flower was published April 6th as an ebook and a paperback book. She has now sold almost 100 copies, has her book available on Amazon as well as at the Putnam Six Bookstore, and is working on scheduling book signings. One of which will be at the Putnam Six Bookstore on June 8th.

Taelyn speaks about her journey in the following quote: “I could never see past sports, and so when they turned out to not be an option anymore, everything concerning my future went dark for a little while. Then I found the poem “Golden Flower” that I wrote when I was thirteen. Ideas for a story began bouncing around my head, and I grabbed each of them and ran! It gave me back that feeling of being challenged. The feeling I loved and thought I would never feel anywhere other than an athletic setting. Maybe writing was what I was meant to be doing all along.”

Flower revolves around the main character, Riley, as well as her love interest, Zac. Both of them have spots in their pasts that make their hearts ache, but they each handle their pain differently. Riley pretends not to feel it, and Zac makes it so that the pain is all he feels. Riley wants to help him see the good in the world, but when disaster strikes, everything gets turned upside down. Hopefully Riley will be able to mend her broken ties and broken mind before it’s too late.

Teri Holle, technical writer, reviews Taelyn’s book as she says, “Taelyn Brown is a gifted, young author. After reading her debut novel, Flower, I expect and hope to see more. Flower is not your teenage love story as one might expect. It is a journey of self-discovery, egoism, and learning to trust yourself and more importantly others. Riley, the main character, starts a chain reaction that changes the lives of others and makes hope possible.”
