Carter Hospice Volunteers make a Real difference, You can Too!
Opportunities to volunteer with Carter Hospice We are in need of caring individuals with a heart to serve others and share their time with patients who are terminally ill and facing the last weeks and months of their lives. Many say, “What can I possibly do to help?“
Several citizens of Enid would hopefully be willing to play board or card games, run errands, clean dishes, sweep, read, do crafts, call bingo, play an instrument, bake, write letters or simply be there to listen. Whatever talent or ability they may have can benefit someone!
We am looking to build a team of 5-10 Enid volunteers.

Christmas in Action
Lots of volunteers needed. Christmas in Action (formerly Christmas in April) only requires giving time to help others by joining Enid area volunteers for
the one-day event. The mission of Christmas in Action in partnership with Rebuilding Together, is to preserve and revitalize houses and communities, assuring that low-income homeowners, particularly those who are elderly and disabled, and families with children live in warmth, safety and independence.

NODA
Did you know 60% of nursing home residents have no visitors at all? A
weekly visit from a friend could help these folks have a much more satisfying life. This is a plea for readers to (at least) visit someone in a nursing home
or consider becoming an Ombudsman volunteer.
Ombudsmen check on seniors living in long term care facilities and nursing homes to advocate for these residents. Visit residents 2 hours per week and attend a monthly meeting.

Enid City Parks
Enid Park Board is looking for volunteers to adopt city parks. There are 29 parks available for adoption, said Carolyn Nicholas, board president. “We
can’t keep up with all the park needs for a city our size with our budget.
They are hard to maintain and keep looking good all year,” Nicholas said. Individuals or groups are invited to volunteer time to do watering, trash pickup and notify the city if there are any limbs that need to be removed. Anyone considering a monetary donation can make it to Enid Park Board, a tax-exempt 501(c)3 organization. Watering newly planted trees during the summer also is important. The city has planted about $50,000 worth of trees in recent years, and Nicholas said no park has a sprinkler system.
Any group or individual may volunteer by contacting Nicholas at (580) 234-8751 or Park Superintendent Ben Painter at (580) 234-0400.
