Oklahoman Wins America's Got Talent

-
OKC, OK - Oklahoman's have been cleaning up on television entertainment shows. Carrie Underwood, from Checotah, Oklahoma, is the most successful winner of American Idol. Blake Shelton, from Ada, Oklahoma, is the winningest coach on The Voice.
-
Wednesday night on Season 12 of America's Got Talent another Oklahoman ruled the entertainment world. Darci Lynne Farmer, from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, won $1 million dollars with her outstanding ventriloquist act beating out 9 other very talented performers.
-
America voted and the top two performers were young female entertainers. 12-year-old Darci Lynne Farmer beat out 10-year-old singer Angelica Hale to take the top prize. AGT reported that this year had the biggest vote in history during the final round of the NBC talent show.
-
Darci wrote on her website, “Growing up, I loved to sing, but the thought of performing in front of an audience left me petrified. My parents encouraged me to pursue my love for singing and helped me overcome my timid demeanor.
-
I began participating in talent-based pageants and soon I was introduced to the art of ventriloquism. A young girl I met was a phenomenal ventriloquist and I was so inspired I decided to try it.
-
As I’ve grown up, performing for an audience has become more natural. Normally I am fairly reserved, but when I step out onto a stage I become an entirely new person; I open up and flourish. Performing has taught me a lot about who I am and who I can be.”
-
Darci, a middle school student in the Deer Creek school system, not only takes home the $1 million dollars but she has the privilege of headlining a show in Las Vegas.
-
Congrats Darci!
